earn-while-travelling

Do you wish to travel the world but don’t have money to spare? You can earn or make money that can pay up for your trip. We discuss in this article 5 ways to get paid travel. These will enable you to focus on having fun and enjoying your unforgettable travel adventures.

A lot of people make a lot of money to pay for their travels even when they are travelling. And there are unlimited opportunities for those who have the intent and drive to do so. Below are some fabulous, real and effective ways you can consistently earn even while travelling.

Rent Your Home or Car – Don’t Leave Them Idle

An easy way to earn money while travelling is to rent out your home while you are gone. You can earn you massive amounts of passive income, thus allowing you to make the most of your travel. You may have friends or friends of friends who are looking to rent while you are gone. If not, you can always go online and list your house on Airbnb.

You won’t be needing your car while you are away travelling. So, why not rent it out rather than letting it sit idle (especially if you intend to be away for months)? Just like renting your home, this can also help you bring in passive income. Remember to rent it to someone you know and lay out the terms and agreements at the start to avoid any issues.

Be A Tour Guide – Share Your Passion and Enjoy

If you have been in a place long enough for you to know it well, then becoming a tour guide would be easy. Several ways are available to do this, such as a tour guide for day trips, for adventure activities, for walking city tours, and many more.

Whatever field and ways you choose, make sure that you have the required skillset and experience. If you have them, there are several options you can take.  Check out how to become a travel host on one of these resources’ Homepage.

Be Gainfully Employed – Cruise Ships, Hostels, Bars, Restaurants

There are always opportunities to be gainfully employed while travelling. However, remember to agree on the terms of employment that will allow you enough time for yourself to explore and go on your adventures. Here are some of the more exciting opportunities for this:

Cruise Ships

This is a great travel job as it can take you to many countries. Because of the wide variety of tasks needed, regardless of work experience, there is always something for everyone (e.g. housekeeping, waitressing, bartending, dancing and singing, naming a few).

Hostels

Most hostels around the world offer free lodging in exchange for work. This opportunity is excellent for those who want to save some money and earn while on the road. Besides, working in a hostel can be extremely fun and memorable as you get to meet tons of people every day from all over the world.

Whether you serve as a receptionist, help in the kitchen or bar, or assist in coordinating hostel activities – there are all jobs you can take up at a hostel.

Bars and Restaurants

Working on bars and restaurants is one of the most customary jobs taken up while travelling, as these types of hospitality businesses are always in need of help.

bartender

These types of jobs may not be the most fun or exciting in the world and require hard work. So you have to be ready for it and try to make sure that you leave time for yourself to explore. If you are, then they are an excellent way to earn money while on the go.

Teach English – Get Paid To Explore

If you are travelling to a country where English is not a primary language, and you happen to be fluent in the language, then you can pick up a job as an English teacher.

Teaching English is one of the most common travel jobs that English-speaking travellers have, as there is always a high demand for it. Regions such as Asia (China, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, and South Korea), as well as Latin America, usually have a high demand for English teachers.

Trade Online

You can set up an online store from which you can sell your products or those of others. It may take a bit of set-up work and will depend on many factors.

Be A Social Influencer

If you have a decent public on social media, you will be more inclined to sign an agreement with you. Try calling smaller brands for a start. They will be easier to persuade and always on the lookout to expand their social media presence.

Travel Blogging

If you like to write, you can write about your experiences, your adventures, and the destinations you have visited. There are various tools you can use to make it easier for you and make your work look professional.

You may publish your articles yourself on your own or submit them to online magazines or other similar online services. Several online magazines or services are always searching for items to publish.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is the process or mechanism of making money every time you promote a product or service of another person or organization. You get paid only once your promotion generates a sale.

    Hello JRandZen,
I think you have built a wonderfully informative web page. I chose your Blog to leave a comment on because I may be making a trip to Hawaii around October of this year to attend a meeting but I’m on a tight budget. I was interested to find out how I could make money while traveling and you really gave me some good ideas on how to make it happen. I also like the layout and images on your website. I also like how you don’t have ads popping up and out all over the page. Seeing stuff like that just makes me want to click out immediately. Great Job!

    1. JRandZen

      Hi Michelle,
Thank you for your comments. It is great that you love to travel. There is no need to drop everything. Family is always first. However, if you plan it well taking into account family commitments, you should be able to make things work. Or better still, why don’t you travel together as a family? It would be fun.

We should all take more time out to do some travelling and see the world but too often people just put it off. The years go by fast, better to just go and find a way to make it happen!

  6. Heidi

That is a great lineup of ideas on making money as you travel! I’m not in a position currently to travel a whole lot, but I hope to in the future. I have recently jumped into the affiliate marketing world and I highly recommend it. I’ve had a great experience and learned tons of new things already. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

    1. JRandZen

Hello, Heidi – Glad to note that you found the ideas we outlined great. It is also great that you have recently jumped into affiliate marketing and recommends it. You should be on your way to earning and put you in a position to travel soon. What key learnings have you gained so far on affiliate marketing?

  7. Heidi

I think things are moving in the right direction! Some of the key things I have learned so far are the importance of creating quality content consistently, focusing on things that can help people, and working together with other like-minded people to help one another succeed. It is definitely not something you can do by yourself!

    1. JRandZen

      Hello, Heidi,
We are glad you are moving in the right direction on your affiliate marketing venture that should ultimately help you earn money for your travels. Yes, indeed content is king in that. As such, the right choice of niche is quite critical. If your niche is within your comfort zone, content creation would come naturally. And definitely you can leverage other like-minded people.

    Hi JRandZen,

Get paid while traveling?! That is a great idea and honestly not one that occurred to me ever. And so you have 5 ways to get paid while traveling and so its great to know this information as I travel a good few times a year and it’d be nice to do some work while on the road.

I wouldn’t bother though for me with the boat jobs as I have been caught in the swells at sea 3 times in one year. I ain’t going by boat no more – too risky! And its just extremely stressful when the boat sounds like its breaking up.

    Thanks JRandZen.

    Regards, Philip.

    1. JRandZen

      Hi Philip,
Thank you for your comments and that you found our ideas useful when you travel. We understand your hesitation with respect to boat jobs. That may be the case for ocean and open sea cruises. However, you may want to consider river cruises (e.g. in Europe) which are likewise very popular. The ride on these riverboats are shorter and smooth – you may not even realize that the boat is moving. You may want to refer to our earlier post on this: https://gotravelresources.com/best-rated-european-river-cruises-comparing-with-ocean-cruises/.
